Britney: For The Record - Your Reactions

Posted under Blog on November 30, 2008

britney-spears-for-the-record301108.jpgOK!!! The countdown to "For The Record" just started on MTV here on the West Coast, but you lucky East Coasters have already seen the documentary and we've been inundated with responses. Your e-mails were so touching and heartfelt I just had to post some of your thoughts...

  • "The reality is, famous or not, we are all the same. We hurt, we love and we make mistakes, nobody is any better than anyone." -- Nichole
  • "Everyone goes through a time in their lives that they're not proud about, I realize that about Britney now. I really wish that Britney could have the opportunity to live her life and be able to play with her boys without being pounded by the media." -- Shawn
  • I thought Britney was excellent-I saw her vulnerability, her hurt, her strength, her love for her boys, and her amazing courage to press on through everything that has happened." -- Michelle
  • "I have always thought that you were an extraordinary woman and your documentary confirmed why I have always been so drawn to you. You are, like me, an every day mother and woman." -- Darby
  • "I realized what a true down to earth and positive person she is There is not one aspect of her story that I did not relate to, and that makes her no different from any other person.
She is a mother, sister, daughter, and a best friend.  She has her ups and down just like everyone else." -- Elizabeth
  • "She is the most influential person out there right now! Words can't even explain how proud of her I am! I love her!" -- Levi
  • "I'm amazed at her courage and strength to bring herself out of such a tough situation. The documentary was gritty, raw and showed Britney as she really is, human." -- Kimberley
  • "I cried at times during the interview. She is a role model to so many because of her strength to overcome the issues she has gone through the past few years." -- Jessica
Don't forget, we wanna see your video responses, so make sure you e-mail them to us at britneyspearsdotcom@gmail.com

Enjoy the documentary!!!

I found this interview with Britney to be a very moving, honest down to earth look at her life. She i has done an amzing job to come out of the bad struggle she has gone throughover the past year and kudos to her. She is like all of us, HUMAN, she feels, she loves, she hurts she is moved etc. Celebrities are like all of us and I feel for her with the way she has to try and live a normal life in the spotlight. She just wants to be loved like we all do and have hapiness and she deserves it. A very mvoing, honest protrayal and i wish her all the best in her future.--Lexie

I'm a 40 year old mother of one and a huge fan of Britney's. I watched "For the Record" and cried for a half hour after it ended. I understand how easy it is to feel alone in a room full of people. Watching her say that she was sad, and that people don't "hear" her broke my heart. I felt this documentary was truly great...from the heart...and I hope it compels people to give her the space and respect that any human being is entitled to. She is, after all, a human being...not this "brand" that she's become.

To Britney, I say hang in there sweetheart. It will be all right.

    Much love and respect,

    Firstly..LOVED IT!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I was so taken back. I almost felt guilty though, felt as if I was contributing to her personal "hell" by reading all the tabloid magazines. I have always respected her, but now I have a whole new level of respect. She has shown a completely different side. She may be a super star, but at the end of the day, she's just like everyone else, she has feelings, and I think EVERYBODY needs to respect that. She is extremely brave to show her everyday life to the whole world, and that's strength.

    MTV scores with Spears special
Documentary tripled the time period average
    By Kimberly Nordyke

    Dec 1, 2008, 10:45 PM ET
For the record -- Britney Spears' MTV special did pretty good Sunday night.

"Britney: For The Record" averaged 3.7 million total viewers at 10 p.m.

It also pulled in a 3.5 rating in the network's target demo of persons 12-34, tripling the time period average in that demo and all others.

The documentary, part of Spears' career relaunch, provided insight into pop princess' rough last few years and into her paparazzi-filled everyday life.

I watched "For the Record." I related through the whole show and cried for Britney.
I went through drinking and unfortunately, an eating thing. I am still married, unhappily, but feel trapped. I have danced since childhood and stopped when I got married and that is when the problems began. Dancing is such therapy, like Britney said. At least she is still young and smart enough to get out of the problems early enough to continue the rest of her life. Also is financially stable.
Good luck staying healthy and well, Britany!

I just want to say that I find Britney an inspiration to see her recovering from a low point in life to something even better than what she was. I am currently going through a low point in my life and am trying to recover as well. Times can be tough but I look to people who have truly lived for guidance, and Britney has truely lived. I am so proud of her and hope to be at her point of recovery soon.

I just saw the show and i was left feeling a mixture of emotions. I felt angry that people took advantage of her when she was at her most vunerable but i also felt happy that she's finally come out of the other side. When she started to cry i just wanted to hug her. I've always been a fan of Britney's music. I wouldnt say i'm a "superfan" but i definetly have respect for the girl. It was so refreshing to see the real "human" Britney. I've never seen that side to her in interviews before. I hope she meets a good man oneday and get's that happy ending she deserves, for her and her babies.

for people who say, "Oh she has gotten herself into this" NO ONE KNOWS that they will be a superstar. People dream of reaching it big but no one wants to not be able to leave their homes or get their kids taken away or get put into hospitals because of this stardom. NO one knows they will be hounded because why the fuck would they choose this life. Its easy for someone to sit on their computer and judge. People say, "Oh she's rich and its so hard" BUT with every class or position you have in life, there are problems. We can't fathom her problems because most of us don't have 100 million dollars in the bank. We should look

Oh my God! I cried and wanted to just say to her, " I hear you" because she said people don't hear her. I have been her fan for the last ten years. I grew up during the big teen explosion in music but I am more a R and B fan. I have loved her through it all. My point is that there is something really special about her to me. She showed it last night. I have never seen her so real and so non guarded about questions. Her voice even sounded different! She answered everything for me. The part about her home representing her babies and needing to be away from it because her babies were taken away. I loved it because

I saw the documentary and my heart ached for her. It ached because Britney would like to lead a normal life like everyone else, and we, the public don't allow her to do so. We're so interested on what she's doing that what we should be doing is focusing on our own private lives and let her live her own. If the public should learn anything from this documentary is to respect Britney's privacy and let her live her life (and to stop buying into those tabloids that only seem to tare her down).

I think after seeing the programme you could really connect with her and realise that she is after all a human being who should be allowed to live her life the way she wants to. For the record really showed the side of Britney that I came to love when I first discovered her. She's sweet, dorky, strong, vulnerable and powerful.I started crying when she said she was said because I could relate to that as I have been dealing with cancer.I feel like I am a prisoner in my body as it holds me back from having a normal life.So I could relate and sympathize with her.
I just want to thank Britney. She has helped me through so much.

When Britney started to cry I wanted to cry. I am a 39 year old man. Of course I have five kids so I can cry. But, I don't see a solution for her. She needs to move out of my Socal but not without the boys. Very complicated.

I saw a woman who was remorseful for what led her life to be so micromanaged. I think a lot of fans were worried that if she wasn't somehow overtly protected by doctors and courts, she'd go back to where she was in the past. Hanging with bad people and befriending paparazzi.

But after watching this, I realized that she truly has learned from her mistakes and will not go back to those evil people and behavior.

It won't last forever Britney. Love you and have a happy birthday.

I, like all the other Britney fans, watched the anticipated "For the Record," and I sincerely applaud Britney for her honesty and openness. Being a single parent is hard enough, but when you are a famous celeb-every single move you make (good or bad) is scrutinized or judged. As long as Britney keeps her head held high and focuses on her family and priorities, her sucess will be inevitable!! Keep up the great work Brit!!!

"For the Record" was a terrific documentary. It wasn't the story of a famous person whining about their tough life. It was the story of one woman's resurrection. Britney was down and out in 2007, and thanks to love and support from her family, she fought back against the inevitable destruction that seems to take the life (not just the physical, but the mental) of so many people in her position.

Britney will never get the chance to live on the island with her kids and husband, but it's obvious she's going to keep fighting to get as close as possible.

I am very happy to see the real Britney is shining through again. I honestly believe that she has always had a good heart and wants to be surrounded by people who love her. I know being taken advantage of by people who you loved can make you become a person you never thought was in you. The media sure doesn't help her situation either. Her situations make her a more beautiful woman because when I was taken advantage of by someone I really cared about, I went to some dark places mentally but I grew and learned a lot about myself. Brit, you also have two beautiful boys! You are truly blessed, know that. For the record...you are awesome.

My biggest wish for her is for her freedom to do and be and GO WHERE EVER SHE WANTS WITH HER KIDS. I hope people let up once and for all. Well I want you to know BRIT you gave me so much inspiration and once again you did it, you got my passion for dance ignited!!!!!!! BRITNEY YOUR COOL AS FIRE BABY AND HOT AS ICE!!!!

I think the documentary proved to a lot of other people what I've thought all along. Britney is a human being, just like the rest of us. She is forced to deal with extreme situations and does the best she can. Think of what it would be like to wanna go to the mall but cant because you would get invaded by crazy people?!?! That would really suck. I have always liked Britney and I'm glad to see her back. The choreographer from the documentary was right, you can see the fire in her eyes again. She looked great and sounded great. WOOHOO BRITNEY'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!

I think that she is makin a really good come back to the music world. She seems like a really nice and sweet person. Like i said she is my idol now!!!!!

Awesome!!! You were great! I was set back by the similar life experiences we all share, famous or not. I don't know how you deal everyday with the constant people. I go crazy having no "alone time" just because of the kids. Kudos to you and your strength! You have shown me that being famous doesn't make you better then anyone else. The only difference I see is that you can pay your bills, and us non famous folk, work day in and day out, and still live penny to penny. Thank you for letting us into your life, the REAL life. It was very inspirational.

I thought that it was a great way for you to put your side of the story about your life out there. My husband and I watched the show and said that your life i just like everyone elses. I'm 27 also with two kids and it is hard raising a family and working at the same time..I give you lots of credit for how you handle yourself..We all go through hard times and that should be personal. People need to back off when personal things happen. I wish you all the best of luck and will also be a devoted fan no matter what because I can relate to your music after everything that has gone on in my life.

Me again, from a legal perspective, I never saw anything in your so called 'meltdown' that was worrying or crazy, I have a shaven head, I like it, its just easier to handle that way, I hate back-seat drivers, look if you want to drive then go ahead but don't tell how to alright!
And If I were in your position I'd probably take an umbrella to a pap's car, teach them to give me some space!
You've done nothing wrong! You're not crazy, you need to fight for your rights, don't let people walk all over you, get your freedom back.

    BTW I'm not a lawyer, I'm a student (a good one mind!)

  1. Susan said:
    Dec 1 2008

Britney, don't take any of this, you are not crazy and they have no right to take your freedom! Ask your lawyer to plead 'Habeus corpus' in both your conservatorship and your custody case.

It means that, your father will have to go to trial and prove you need full time supervision, it also means all the evidence they have, will passed onto your lawyer, who will then be able to scrutinize it, and in your custody case it means that under your civil rights you have the right to the company of your children unless it can be proven that they children would be in some danger, this is a very good defence for people like you..............

It was a pleasure to see, "Britney: For The Record" last night! It was nice to see Britney setting everything straight and allowing us into her crazy world full of mean paparazzi and the hard road she's struggled to walk through over these past couple of years. I felt saddened however to see such sadness in her face throughout most of the documentary. I hope the conservatorship ends soon, so she can truly be happy. She deserves it. She may have lost her way but now she's found it! Here's to the CIRCUS finally beginning and to Britney getting her life back! =D

I'm not a fan of this genre of music , but I do however respect everyone's tastes. What I do NOT respect is the fact that the populations of the Earth are so subject to influence that ALL she would have to do is suggest to a fanatical fan to tattoo her name on their forehead,,,,and more than likely....that person probably would. The populations of this Earth are PATHETIC and weak minded. Mtv says it...and you live it . WAKE UP SHEEP!!!!!!!

I've always felt bad for Britney because of how everyone was so quick to judge and criticize her. Hopefully everyone has a more personal insight into who she is now and she might be able to live her life in relative peace.

Britney's documentary really opened up my eyes. The show was like a emotional roller coaster for me. I can relate to Britney in many ways. I've been through some tough times during the last few years of my life too. I'm glad that I got to see how down to earth Britney is while baring her heart and soul. A lot of what she went through during these past few years was about her trying to figure out who she was as a person. Now she's really come into her own. I really admire and respect Britney even more than I ever have.

During this time I also made some poor choices and she helped me realize that it's ok to make mistakes in life. Britney, you are so strong and such a wonderful mother and extremely talented person. And you're right they are the reason to get out of bed every day because I feel the same way. I am so proud of you and who you are. Thank you and good luck with everything in your life. --Jenna

That she is like everybody in the world and no onecould face what she has face. I love how she tries her hardest to go on.
