I would like to offer my well wishes to Jayden. My son has struggled with food allergies for his 4 1/2 years of life and it is very challenging. I know you have gotten a lot of feed back because of this...along with everything else you do in your life...I wish it wasn't that way. I do encourage you to have your child tested and follow up with his allergies. I am very involved in the food allergy community in
Denver an am the Chair for the Food Allergy Walk Denver by FAAN. They are amazing and have a lot of great resources. the web site is www.foodallergy.org. I wish you the best in your roll as a mother.

I understabd about the food reaction. Both of my children have food allergies. My daughter has allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, corn, latex, carrots, banana, and mango. My son is allergic to Milk, eggs, and wheat. You can get through it..... there is a reason why the Lord gave YOU these babies. My advice.... be the BEST advocate you can for the cause. Peanuts are allowed everywhere including schools, planes (imagine the reaction 35K miles up), and etc. GET A GOOD ALLERGIST!!!!

I am so happy for Brit and how well she is doing. She is a great mom. All the people that talked crap about her, are eating their words now. I am a mom of 2 beautiful kids. A boy 9, and a girl 4. After i had my girl, i went thru very bad post partum. I was loosing my mind, and i started to drink a lot. To a point where i almost lost my family. I was never a drinker until then. But with the suport of my family, i have been doing great for 4 years now. I don`t drink at all. I am a great mom, and great wife. Thank YOU GOD 4 your help! I

Just want you to know we wish the best for you and your sweet little boys. Keep your head up.
I too have been in your shoes when it comes to your little boy being sick. My 3 year old son had a allergic reaction to some fried catfish when he was 2. Scared the heck out of us. Now I have to keep a epi pen with us at all times. No more fish for him. Its hard to keep him away from fish being here in the South. Heck there is always a fish fry here in Liberty, MS. Just have to always be cafeful.

So sorry to hear about the recent severe allergic reaction your dear son has had. Pls help get the word out about the increase in allergic reactions/impact it has on the lives of families! Many, moms, have given up careers to face the daily challenge of feeding children with multiple severe food allergies. Please help the common person who faces this challenge by bring attention to the issue in any way possible.

Mother of four (10 - 3 yrs). Three w/multiple severe allergies, each to different foods. Two of the three w/allergies also have Celiac (hereditary autoimmune disorder requiring the strict lifetime avoidance of gluten)!

A simple blood test could at least check for the top ten food allergies for him. My daughter was allergic to eggs, milk and nuts. Fortunately it is only nuts now. It's a really scary thing to watch them have a reaction though. My thoughts are with you.

I called the most amazing company, Divvies (bakery that makes delicious treats without nuts, eggs and milk) to tell them what happened, and they said if you want, they will send you their safe treats for your sons. Britney, Sounds like Jayden has food allergies- my son and I have them also. Gltuen/dairy cause us to break out in hives and my joints swell. You can go either route for care-alternative or traditional. I chose alt. Food allergies are sooooo common now a days. You're not alone! It requires a big commitment on your part and life-long changes; take it one day at a time! ---Your son will thank you!

My daughter is fatally allergic to nuts. I know how scary it is to have your child reacting to something and you're just not sure what to do to help. I hope they diagnose his allergy and that he have a happy and healthy life.

kids are allergic to all sorts of things, house work and picking up after themselves have the worst reactions :D

If he is allergic to a food it is scary but so many children these days are experiencing more allergies. I hope you are able to identify what he ingested that caused the reaction. The hospital will probably get him to do IgE allergy tests. However, it is my belief you should also get him to do a 93 IgG food panel test. This will identify the foods he has problems with. A good naturopath is worth consulting to help boost his immune system and to work through this with you - they will do more for you in the long term than the hospital will. They'll just prescribe an epipen, do a RAST test and skin prick IgE test. Email me if you want more information. Glad he's doing better Britney and I'm really glad you are too. Love to all, Karina.

1. Always have a bottle of benadryl, Keep it in the car, your purse, and at home.
2. Know which benadryl to buy. Ask the Dr, or pharmacist how much to give in case of an alergic reaction.
3. Get Jayden alergy tested.
4. Give the list to babysitters, nanny, and school.

Always have benadryl. It could be a life saver.
My daughter had numerous alergies. If your alergic to one thing , then your probably alergic to others.
Best advise: Be informed, and prepared.

Hey girl. My son jack had horrible hives once. Like his whole body turned into one huge hive. I don't even know what he ate. He went to vanderbilt and they just gave him benedryl. My baby was crying and itching. I hope ur little one gets better. Babies have such sensitive skin.

Coulda happened to anybody-in fact, it happened to my son when he was 3 and ate blue cheese dressing after begging from his granny's plate-pretty scary moment and yeah,those hives are awful! Give him lots of hugs & kisses; am glad you were able to be with him, just wish the press would left ya'll the hell alone tho'!

My 3 year old had a severe allergic reaction when she was 6 months old and it was the scariest day of my life. You did the right thing, just know that until people have gone through such a situation they have no idea. Please know that it is not your fault and that you have the support of the other parents who have experienced the same situation. You are in my prayers.

My oldest (now 8) was born with severe allergies to dairy, egg, peanut and tree nuts. It's scary, but it's managable. You'll need an Epi-pen and Benadryl everywhere you go. NEVER be without them. FAAN and other organizations are wonderful for a start as far as info. There are multitudes of us out there and wonderful forums to talk to other FA parents. My son has since outgrown dairy and egg. Hard at first, but it soon becomes second-nature. Good luck!

My son is almost three years old and when he was a baby I gave me just a a little peanut butter and within 3-4hrs he broke out in hives. tunrs out the lil burger is alergic to peanuts. I am sure everyone freaked out with her son OMG! I am sorry that happen to you and your son. Everything will be just fine just watch what you give him and check into the peanut thing.

My 2 year old is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. We found out the same way....he all of a sudden had hives and looking back we realized he had a bite of his brothers PB & J sandwhich. Food allergies can be VERY serious. As someone else said, FAAN is a good place to start. Trace Adkins is their spokesperson. Hope he is feeling better!!

Food allergies are frightening and life threatening. My 20-month old also suffers. If in fact, Jayden had an anaphylactic reaction to something he ate, Britney can find lots of information and support from the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network's website: www.foodallergy.org. This incident has nothing to do with parenting skills. Scientist cannot explain the reason why some kids have food allergies and others don't. And there is no cure. I hope Britney and her son are getting good medical advice.

I work in the healthcare field dealing with food allergies and holistic medicine. You should have your litte guy checked out for a Gluten Intolerance (gliadin ab).

Jenny McCarthys little boy is on a gluten free diet.

I have three kids and they all are allergic to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and spelt. My youngest breaks out in hives when she gets it. It could be dairy too!

My brother's son Jarod is allergic to peanuts. The first time he had a reaction scared us silly. Shakes you up a bit but the good thing now is that you can take the necessary steps to find out to what he is allergic. Good Luck!

I am glad he is going to be alright. My son is a diabetic and I unerstnad the fear you had when he went non-responsive. I hope all works out and you find that he is allergic to something gross like hominy so he wont have to suffer through that again!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all this Holiday Season!!

I've had food allergies all my life. The best advice I can give is this: Keep a food journal of everything he consumes, even little things such as spices and condiments. This really helps to narrow down the allergen(s). Good luck!

Hate it when you find out your allergic to an ingredient by eating it.

The same thing happened to me but luckily I didn't need to go to hospital. Just broke out in hives all over my body. Just by eating a milk chocolate praline biscuit that I had never had before.

it was probably a alergic reaction if got like that is because he ate something he was alergic too.
