Exclusive: Villains Official 'Circus' Remix

Records is releasing the 'Circus Remix' EP on Tuesday but
BritneySpears.com has an exclusive minute-long preview of the Villains
Remix! We also spoke to the Villains about how they got involved with the project and how they gave Brit's track the "Villains treatment" to blow everyone away. Take a look at our interview and check out the remix clip below.
How did you get involved with this project?
After the people over at Jive heard our remix of DJ Felli Fel's "Get Buck In Here" (feat. Akon, Diddy, Ludacris, and Lil Jon), they asked us to work on a remix of "Circus" for them. They told
us that it would only get approved and released if Britney and her team
loved it, so we committed to making a hit remix that was going to blow
them away.
What was the process for making the remix?
The
production of the original track already had an uptempo feel, but we
wanted to really turn it up and give it a harder electro vibe while
still maintaining the integrity of the original song. One of the main
things we had to do was adjust the arrangement of the track, so it
would flow better in the club environment. We sketched out exactly what
we wanted to do with it and then executed. We chopped up the vocals,
worked out some new drum patterns, added a rough synth, and basically
gave this track the Villains treatment.
Are you a Britney fan and why?
Yea, you have to respect Britney. She continues to push the boundaries of pop music.
Something the general public should probably know about Villains?
This is only the beginning.
What else is going on with Villains right now?
We
recently released our Birth EP that has three of our original tracks,
which were actually the first tracks that we ever produced together as
Villains. We are currently working on our next EP as well as a handful
of new remixes and some original production for other artists. We will be
DJing a bit in North America over the next few months and then we are
going to be touring Australia in May and Europe later in the year.
